The purpose of the study is a historical analysis of the process of organizing and conducting Palestinian readings by the Orel Department of the Imperial Orthodox Palestinian Society in the period from 1899 to 1903. The author focuses on the problem of the development of Palestinian readings in the Orel province at the initial stage of the existence of the local department of the Imperial Orthodox Palestinian Society.
Methodology. Within the framework of this study, the process of formation and geographical expansion of Palestinian readings in the Orel province was analyzed through the use of historical-genetic, chronological and diachronic methods. The key trends are identified and the dynamics of the development of the reading topics is presented. On the basis of the historical and phenomenological method, the main stages of the formation of this cultural phenomenon were determined through the application of.
Novelty and results. In this study the author analyzes the key events related to the organization of Palestinian readings in the Orel Department of the Imperial Orthodox Palestinian Society. The study also examines the scale and dynamics of these readings in the period from 1899 to 1903. Based on the conducted historiographical analysis, the peculiarities of the regional specifics of the activities of the Imperial Orthodox Palestinian Society in the field of education of the local population were identified. The author has structured that in the first four years of operation, the geography of distribution of the events has significantly expanded, fulfilling educational and spiritual-educational tasks.
Research perspectives. The results obtained in the course of the conducted research can serve as the basis for an in-depth analysis of the regional history of the Imperial Orthodox Palestinian Society, and can also be the foundation for further research in the field of public education in the territory of the Orel province in the period from the end of the XIX to the beginning of the XX century
