Abstract

The purpose of the article consists in a historical analysis of acculturation in intercultural communication in the North Caucasus in the XVIII – first half of the XIX century.

Friendly relations between the peoples of the North Caucasus in the XVIII – first half of the XIX century have a complex and multifaceted nature, due to historical, cultural, social and political factors. At that time, the region was the scene of interaction between various ethnic groups. This influenced the formation of different forms of interaction. Mutual trade and exchange of resources contributed to the formation of friendly relations. Economic contacts could lead to the formation of alliances between groups. It is also possible to note the mutual influence of traditions, customs and language. Folk festivals, rituals and crafts united people, creating the basis for friendship and interethnic marriages. The XVIII century was a time when the influence of the Russian Empire in the region increased. This created opportunities for cooperation, development of trade, economic and cultural ties. At the same time, it created the ground for conflicts. Opposition to a common enemy and separate political interests sometimes led to the formation of alliances between peoples.

In his work, the author uses an interdisciplinary approach that allows combining various research methods for a more complete and indepth understanding of the processes of acculturation in the North Caucasus in the XVIII - first half of the XIX century. The methodology of studying the subject is based on the study of archival sources, documents and literature of that time, which allow structuring the main trends and processes of cultural interaction in the North Caucasus.

The application of a cultural approach made it possible to analyze the national characteristics and traditions of various ethnic groups in the North Caucasus during this period. The anthropological approach allowed to study the daily life, customs, religious practices and way of thinking of the inhabitants of the North Caucasus, to consider the processes of interaction and adaptation to new cultural conditions. The foundations of the linguistic approach are laid in the study of language contacts, language changes, and the influence of various languages on the linguistic picture in the North Caucasus. The comparative analysis of the material is based on comparing data on cultural adaptation and changes in the North Caucasus with data from other regions.

The research materials demonstrate the results of systematization of general patterns and features of the acculturation process.

As a result, the author notes that the increase and strengthening of trade, general political and cultural contacts of local peoples has led to their comprehensive relations with each other and the Russian state.
